Elten
Despite the fact that Elten and its 4,800 inhabitants became part of the city of Emmerich am Rhein in 1975, it has a unique infrastructure of its own. There are various reasons why our town is in such a favourable position: Elten is close to the Dutch border and has a highway exit of its own. It is Elten’s long history, but also the beautiful Montferland woodlands and the fact that Elten is a state-acknowledged health resort with various recreational facilities upon the Elten hillside. With a height of 82 meters, the hilltop with its 1000-year-old St. Vitus Church, is a landmark in the Lower Rhine lowland plain which can be seen from afar.
